Yesterday I attempted at dyeing my hair purple. I really want a rich deep-violet plum colored hair. So I headed straight to Watsons and bought a box of Revlon Colorsilk in34 Deep Burgundy. I have thick, black black black hair so of course I’m not expecting grape colored hair. I’m a noob with regards to dyeing hair, so…
With the help of my ninang (godmother? I think?), we managed to color my whole head of hair using only one box. The instruction booklet said if hair is longer than shoulder length, you might need to boxes of the dye mixture. My hair is almost waist length, add to that the thickness and we got a problem.
Fast forward (after 5 hours of soaking) I rinsed and conditioned my hair, and the result was still black with deep reddish purple hints. It’s not plum, it was a big disappointment but I’m taking this as step 1 in the whole ‘Road to Plum Hair’ journey I have started. Maybe I should use that to tag posts about attempts at plum hair. It’s going to be difficult because I don’t want to bleach my hair, seeing it can be damaging. And I don’t really want to get rid of the black, I just want plum for a while, like half a year?
Although, I have to give it Revlon that their product smells amazing! Both the coloring dyes and the conditioner. Also did a bit of research after this failure, and found out that there I should have used Japanese or Korean or other Asian brands to dye my hair because they’re specifically formulated for Asian hair.
I was a bit hesitant to purchase from Maybelline since their BB Cream caused me to break out. But, seeing that all other brands were way too expensive for a student budget, I said let’s do this. Also, my mom said, if it doesn’t work for me I can always give it to her.
I got to test it immediately the day after since I accompanied my sister to her enrollment. I’m not a make up person but ha! The foundation lasted almost five hours given that the weather that day was extremely hot. And thank goodness, there were no breakouts! Also it’s light so I can build up the coverage and not have thick foundation all at once.
Achoo! This blog is getting a bit dusty so I thought I’d post something.
These are a few pieces I got during the holidays most of which are things I bought with my Christmas money.
This pair of wedges is from Mendrez, I think it’s a local brand, I’m not sure ha-ha. Anyway, I fell in love with the shade of red so I had to buy it. I got it for Php 1200. BUT! I passed by the Mendrez outlet in the mall and it was down to Php 600! And I was like WTH! CAPITALISTS!!!!! So lesson learned, wait til after Christmas for the huge sales to pop out, at least in my country.
Next are these books… The Pelican Brief and Acts of Murder were both impulse buys. I figured I can never have enough mystery on my shelf sooooo. However, the Sherlock Holmes collection was something I’ve been wanting for the longest time. Ever since I’ve startedwatching the BBC series, I vowed to get myself a copy of the canon. And there it is in all it’s mass paperback glory. That’s just Volume I though. It would be better if I could find a copy of Volume II in trade paperback or hardcover!
And last are these bits of makeup products. Just a lip balm from my aunt and BB Cream from my mom. That polka-dotted background is a dress which is also a gift. I’d probably wear it for New Year’s Eve.
Anyway, that’s all there is to this post. Have a good week!
My nails were too long and I didn’t have a nail cutter with me. So I treat myself to a manicure sesh. Can’t believe i found a salon that only charges Php75 for the service when they use OPI and Orly nail polish. The one in my hometown charges double the amount.
I went out on the 17th to submit my scholarship application forms to the university and also to get some mail in the post office. Last week, I was messaged on twitter that I won the giveaway by Nars Obsessor. Sarah, the author of the blog was very generous to giveaway a Stila Lip Glaze set. So when I found out I won, you can imagine how happy and giddy I was. She’s also a bit younger than me so it’s pretty amazing that she has a successful blog already and can run giveaways.
It’s my first time to use a Stila product and these lip glosses are amazing! The set included “2 best-selling and 6 limited edition glossy shades”.
One is obviously the range of pretty pretty pink colors. Two, they have this amazing “technology” (for lack of a better word) that controls how much lip gloss goes out of the tube. Three, I loved that when you apply it on your lips, it’s not as overwhelming as they seem especially the black cherry, which is second one on the right.
Just got back home from UPLB and found some bottles of glittery nail polish in my mama’s luggage when she went back from Dubai. Cute little shimmer on my nails. Haha. Plus, I am absolutely in love with the print of this skirt I’m wearing! Only 12 more days beforeChristmas!
Last summer, I was an idle creature waiting for something miraculous to occur. Unfortunately, nothing happened. I was in front of my laptop all day long munching on chips and slacking off. I was supposed to do nothing. Every time I would get bored as hell, I scoured YouTube for braid tutorials. Who knew there were so many different braid styles and that they were called differently? The only styles I knew back then were the Fishtail and French braid and it took me a while to do it on my own hair. Every time I get a hold of my sister (she has long and curly hair), I do different braid styles on her hair.
Let me share a few photos of my versions of the Fishtail braid and the Waterfall braid.
The fishtail braid.
The waterfall braid.
My hair looks rather shiny in this photo. Haha!
I really loved the way these braids turn out every time. My favorite style would be the fishtail braid. Even though it takes more time than usual, and if you have long long hair then that would really consume some time, the texture of the braid is really interesting. I love the way it looks on hair with highlights too.
